About.

INSPIRED BY A CUBE.

Hello and welcome to my portfolio!
My name is Benjamin Cowley and I’m an aspiring 3D artist based in Sydney Australia.
Inspired during my youth with video games and the curiosity of how they were developed, I was introduced to the world of 3D modelling and animation through blender in high school, I was intrigued by the layout and single cube that laid in the view port, from the introduction of this program I developed a passion to be involved in game development. This early interest lead me to enrol in AIE (Academy Of Interactive Entertainment) to further develop my skill in game development.

COG

COG is a single player isometric puzzle game where you play as 2 robots but only control one at a time. The goal of the game is to get both robots to the green COG endpoints at the end of each level (See images to the Right).

ROLE

For the game development I was in charge of character concept development for Billy and Mandy which included, modelling, rigging and animating, while also implementing them into the unity engine. I also assisted in creating environmental assets for each level of the game. Its was an integral part of the project to work closely with our programmer to ensure the animations were executed and timed correctly for the best outcome.

Project Overview – Buy Somewhere

The objective of the game is to become a property tycoon and compete for ownership of REAL WORLD PROPERTY!
Buy your house – or your neighbour’s. Fight for the ownership of your favourite cafe or steal the local video game store from your friends!
Battle to control legendary landmarks like the Sydney Opera House and even the Melbourne Exhibition Centre!

My Role

Buy Somewhere was my first introduction into the gaming industry the role was both exciting and challenging, and allowed me to prove myself working in a creative gaming environment. My role in the up and coming property tycoon was to concept and create generic properties and Australian landmarks. This explored my ability to acquire adequate reference images and  model high quality, low poly models and replicas of Australia’s most remarkable and memorable buildings. These sites varied from iconic buildings such as the Sydney Opera House and Town Hall, to well known stadiums such as Sydney’s Allianz Stadium and the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
